Joydeep Hor

People + Culture Strategies (Sydney, Australia)

Joydeep Hor is one of only a few Australian business leaders who is a Graduate of Harvard Business School’s Owner-President Management Program and one of Australia’s most high-profile lawyers and legal entrepreneurs.

Joydeep has been ranked as a leading lawyer in the international “Chambers” rankings every year since 2010, in Doyle’s Guide to the Legal Profession and was recognised as Australia’s “Workplace Relations Lawyer of the Year” in 2016 by Corporate LiveWire’s Legal Awards.

In July 2010, Joydeep founded a ground-breaking practice in the legal industry, People + Culture Strategies (PCS). PCS was established to be unlike any other legal firm given its emphasis on working with its clients to prevent disputation and legal problems arising within their organisations, as opposed to a mere “reactive” provider. PCS has serviced over 1000 Australian and international employers (with a strong reputation particularly in handling sensitive employee separation issues, matters of workplace bullying and harassment and developing strategic solutions to organisation’s people management challenges).

Joydeep’s first book Inside Employee Screening was published in 1999 and he has authored ten books since that time, including Managing Workplace Behaviour, Managing Termination of Employment and Finders Keepers: A Guide to Attracting and Retaining Great Employees as well as being a published author across a range of other publications. He has been a keynote speaker at countless conventions and industry events (including various International Bar Association conferences) and for many years has been appearing on television programs for Channel 7, the ABC, Sky News and Your Money as a thought leader and commentator in his areas of expertise. He currently appears as the lead workplace commentator for ausbiz.tv. In 2016, Joydeep accepted an invitation to represent Australia at the International Forum on Employment Law at which he has continued as the sole Australian representative and is now on the Steering Committee.

Since February 2022, Joydeep has been the Chair of Darlinghurst Theatre Company, one of Sydney’s leading performing arts institutions. Some of the other Boards on which Joydeep has served include as a member of the Audit & Risk Committee for the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, the American Club, Executive Women’s Business, Northside Community Forum and the SCECGS Redlands Foundation. He is also the personal adviser on people management matters to the Waratahs and Cricket NSW.
